Phil Hawkins is an award-winning features and commercials director. He directed his first short film when he was 13 and continued to write, direct and edit shorts and promos regularly to hone his skills as a filmmaker. His early passion for the theatre provided invaluable insight into writing for, working with and directing actors.
His shorts include the ambitious THE FLYING LESSON featuring aerial stunts in a WWII biplane and A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BATHROOM MIRROR starring Tim McInnerny (Blackadder, Notting Hill).
He’s also directed five feature films that have all crossed different genres including a classic Greek tragedy, a comedy satire and a psychological thriller. Most notably, Phil wrote and directed THE LAST SHOWING which was released by Sony Pictures and starred Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Finn Jones (Game Of Thrones) and Emily Berrington (Humans). The period action/adventure movie THE FOUR WARRIORS was released by Lionsgate in the USA.
With his producing partner Alexandra Baranska, Phil runs The Philm Company, a features production company developing and producing a slate of film projects by new and established writers. They are currently in advanced development on their new feature – action thriller BAPTISM an adaptation of the Max Kimmings novel set in contemporary London. Phil is also raising money for ORIGINS – a ‘crazily ambitious’ bold short film love letter to STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES.
Phil has also directed commercials for over ten years and specialises in ads with narrative, performance and comedy.
