While Adam’s interests are diverse and varied having composed for many different contexts, he continues to focus primarily on musical theatre. His collaboration with writer Paul Hurt ANGELA’S ASHES – A MUSICAL (an adaptation of Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book) will be touring Ireland and the UK in 2019 in a major production, returning by popular demand. The musical received its World Premiere in 2017 at the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick in July 2017, prior to opening at the Bord Gais Energy Theater in Dublin and toured to Belfast Grand Opera. Howell and Hurt are also working on BLONDE – a musical based on the life and times of Marilyn Monroe which was in workshop in 2018 and performed at the RADA Festival, directed by Cara Nolan.
Adam was the Co-Artistic Director of Uncontained Arts, a touring theatre company based at Derby Theatre in the East Midlands. From 2009 to 2014 he toured nationally and internationally with the company as an actor/musician (across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Eire, Edinburgh and Poland) and composed the songs and music for their productions. He is also an experienced Musical Director and arranger having worked on many productions including A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Derby Theatre Christmas 2014.
