Teresa Howard | Writer | Librettist | Lyricist


 

Teresa’s writing career has crossed media as a playwright, scriptwriter, librettist and lyricist. She received a prestigious Writing Fellowship at Winchester School of Art and has worked for the Literary Department of the Royal Court Theatre. She has also been a Writer in Residence on a fellowship in Stratford from the Hosking House Trust and is currently developing two projects, supported by The Arts Council of England.   She is a maker of TINY SHOWS with the Copenhagen Interpretation and Women Who Write Musicals and her songs have recently been in a Masterclass with Claude Michel Shönberg.  Her focus over the last few years has been on musical theatre, collaborating with, amongst others, the award winning composer and orchestrator Steven Edis beginning with their Pre-Raphaelite musical POSSESSED.   

Teresa's musical theatre adaptation of Dodie Smith’s I CAPTURE THE CASTLE (book and lyrics) with composer Steven Edis, directed by Brigid Larmour will receive its premiere in 2017, produced by Watford Palace Theatre, Octagon Theatre Bolton and Kevin Wallace in association with Deborah Ward.  The production is also supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.    The show had a workshop production in August 2015 with the Royal National Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre at the NT Studio.   Previous workshop productions have taken place in the show's development at the Royal Academy of Music, directed by Karen Rabinowitz (2011) and a full workshop production (March 2012), supported by ACE and Watford Palace Theatre and directed by Brigid Larmour, Artistic Director at Watford at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.  

Current projects also include a commission for a musical theatre book on an original project (supported by ACE) which is in development with Hackney Empire and an Anglo/Indian musical theatre show.
