Robert Rigby | Writer
Robert is enjoying writing radio drama again. His thriller NO PLACE LIKE HOME was co-written with Nick Russell-Pavier who also produced for Goldhawk Essential/BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Theatre (2010). This is a drama about two men caught up in the randomness of fate when one man confronts the other, an intruder, with a legally owned shotgun.
Robert's most recent radio drama for Afternoon Theatre NO PARTICULAR PLACE TO GO (tx August 2011) centres on a confrontation between a teenage shoplifter and a store detective who has seen active service in the Gulf. The play also features songs and music composed and performed by Robert himself. Nick Russell-Pavier again produced for Goldhawk Essential.
Robert also continued writing fiction for young adults in 2011. Carlton Books brought out four novels with a sporting theme, all official London 2012 titles: PARALLEL LINES and RUNNING IN HER SHADOW were published in July 2011 and WHEELS OF FIRE and DEEP WATERS followed in September 2011.
Other fiction includes Robert's GOAL: GLORY DAYS (2009), which rounded off the hugely popular tie-in books to the film trilogy about Santiago, plucked from the backstreets of Southern California to achieve super-stardom as an international footballer.
The adrenaline-pounding BOY SOLDIER series of four action/adventure books for young adults co-written with best-selling thriller writer Andy McNab (Doubleday) sold over 500,000 copies and has been published around the world.
A number of projects on Robert's current development slate have a musical element, linking back to his previous alter ego as a rock musician.
