Poppy Burton-Morgan | Director
Poppy is a prolific and talented young director, writer and librettist who works in a variety of theatrical forms from opera to Shakespeare, new writing to puppetry and various combinations thereof.
She works nationally and internationally as a free-lance director and for her own theatre company Metta Theatre (www.mettatheatre.co.uk).
Recent work has included directing and adapting SEXING THE CHERRY by Jeanette Winterson at the Southbank Centre, GOTCHA at The Riverside Studios and adapting THE MAN WITH THE FLOWER IN HIS MOUTH by Pirandello in London with Greenwich Theatre and on tour. In September 2010 Poppy directed WAITING by Victoria Brittain at the South Bank Centre starring Juliet Stevenson. She also directed new stagings of three of Britten's CANTICLES - operatic settings including skilful puppetry - and a new play première at the Southwark Playhouse OTIENO, a hard-hitting rewiring of Shakespeare's OTHELLO set in Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe (May-June 2010).
