Phil Hawkins is an award-winning features and commercials director. He directed his first short film when he was 13 and continued to write, direct and edit shorts and promos regularly to hone his skills as a filmmaker. His early passion for the theatre provided invaluable insight into writing for, working with and directing actors.
His shorts include the ambitious THE FLYING LESSON featuring aerial stunts in a WWII biplane and A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BATHROOM MIRROR starring Tim McInnerny (Blackadder, Notting Hill).
He’s also directed five feature films that have all crossed different genres including a classic Greek tragedy, a comedy satire and a psychological thriller. Most notably, Phil wrote and directed THE LAST SHOWING which was released by Sony Pictures and starred Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Finn Jones (Game Of Thrones) and Emily Berrington (Humans). His latest feature, the action/adventure movie THE FOUR WARRIORS, has proved extremely successful selling internationally and due to be released in the US by Lionsgate. The film is now out in the UK in major supermarkets and through digital platforms.
In 2012 Phil launched The Philm Company, a features production company. The company was set up to develop and produce a slate of film projects by new and established writers.
Phil has also directed commercials for ten years and specialises in ads with narrative, performance and comedy.
