Although best known for his role as the sonically adventurous drummer and composer in the folk big band, BELLOWHEAD, Pete Flood has had an eclectic career taking in work for film, theatre and dance, large scale composition commissions, remixes, production, as well as playing in ensembles ranging in genre from contemporary classical through to world music, jazz and free improvisation. Theatre credits include THE LIFE AND TIMES OF FANNY HILL (2015) at Bristol Old Vic, starring Caroline Quentin, MEMORY POINTS (2014 & 2015) at the Southbank Centre, PINOCCHIO (2013) at the Little Angel, and Fevered Sleep’s FEAST YOUR EYES (2004), national tour.
Pete is currently working on the first stages of development of an unpublished radio play by the great folk historian and singer A.L.Lloyd, as well as writing material for a new trio - RESTHARROW, which will aim to bring his love of traditional melodies and lore together with an abiding fascination with the natural world.
The highly acclaimed MEMORY POINTS, (Platform 4) with music composed by Pete, was restaged in September 2015 with additional material, as a poignant final production of the current Purcell Room at the Southbank Centre before its redevelopment.
Pete is currently performing on the BELLOWHEAD: FAREWELL TOUR and the album PANDEMONIUM: THE ESSENTIAL BELLOWHEAD has been released which features songs penned by Pete. The DVD of the Farewell tour is also out now: BELLOWHEAD LIVE: THE FAREWELL TOUR 3 Disc set (2 CDs + DVD).
