Andrew Cartmel | Writer
Andrew's current project is an original television comedy/drama series STAND UP GUY (inspired perhaps by his own experiences as a stand up comedian - he was a finalist in the Nicotinell Comedy Tour in 2007).
Recent commissioned work includes BROWN BREAD a wonderfully sparky episode for the recently controversial yet perennially popular MIDSOMER MURDERS (Bentley Productions for ITV).
A genre theatrical film thriller co-written with Keith Claxton RED TIDE is in development.
Other distinctive television series work includes an excellent episode for TORCHWOOD during the time the cult series made its transition to the mainstream BBC channels.
Andrew started in television at the BBC as Script Editor on DOCTOR WHO (the Sylvester McCoy era), a post he held for three seasons. He continues in demand as both a print and broadcast expert on a wide number of DOCTOR WHO engagements.
He also worked at the BBC as a senior Script Editor on CASUALTY and then at Five as Script Editor and lead writer on DARK KNIGHT.
Andrew's stage plays produced on the London fringe include END OF THE NIGHT and UNDER THE EAGLE, hailed by Time Out as 'bitingly funny'.
Andrew also writes fiction, most recently a thriller WRITTEN IN DEAD WAX which mines a rich seam of jazz lore.
