Charles’s original comedy series HOLD THE SUNSET is awaiting transmission on BBC1 (Quarter 1, 2018 tbc). This has been developed by With One Bound for BBC Studios and stars John Cleese, Alison Steadman, Jason Watkins and Anne Reid. The director is Sandy Johnson.
Charles’s work in film includes the extraordinary THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS, Charles sharing writing duties with director Terry Gilliam. Starring the late Heath Ledger in his last role – a role taken over mid-way through production by Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law – the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2009 and was widely award-nominated.
Charles regularly undertakes re-writing assignments and his work in this area includes horror/comedy THE KATAKOMB KLUB for Studio Urania, Rome and director Michele Soave and psychological thriller THE WOMAN I LOVE for director Douglas Law and Produire à Paris, France.
Charles also writes for the stage, most recently on an adaptation of Pierre Chesnot’s popular French stage comedy À VOS SOUHAITS (under English title THE SNEEZE) for its English language premiere.
